The more we give, the happier we feel…
Volunteering for us not only offers vital help to women and girls in need but can also support you in your personal and professional development.
Volunteering can improve your sense of wellbeing. By connecting with and supporting others it can increase your confidence and give you sense of purpose and meaning.
Volunteering can make you happier. By measuring hormones and brain activity, researchers have discovered that being helpful to others delivers immense pleasure. Human beings are hard-wired to give to others. The more we give, the happier we feel.
Volunteering can make you smarter. Through volunteering you can learn new skills and develop new insights and understanding. It can widen your world view and you can learn about lives that are perhaps different from your own.
Volunteering can improve your career prospects. If you’re considering a new career, volunteering can help you get experience in your area of interest and meet people in the field. Even if you’re not planning on changing careers, volunteering gives you the opportunity to practice the skills used in the workplace, such as teamwork, communication and problem solving.
The kind of volunteer roles we have at New Dawn New Day include:
- Outreach and Support Assistant. This can involve helping the Outreach and Support team with their clients and co-facilitating group programmes and activities.
- Administration and reception support. This can involve helping us to staff our busy reception and supporting day to day administration tasks.
