Domestic Abuse Support

Our Domestic Abuse Support Team provide specific practical and emotional support to women who have been subjected to Domestic Violence or Abuse, or who are currently at risk. Our team is comprised of two specialist IDVAs (Independent Domestic Violence Advisors) who have received specialist accredited training and hold a nationally recognised qualification

"You have given me the courage to do things people take for granted. I will always remember you saying to me I am traumatised, not mad like I thought I was. With your continuing help and support I will recover"

Support from Specialist IDVAs

What it is: Our IDVAs support women who are at high risk of harm from intimate partners, ex-partners or family members to secure their safety and the safety of their children. Serving as a victim’s primary point of contact, IDVAs normally work with their clients from the point of crisis to assess the level of risk, discuss the range of suitable options and develop safety plans

What we do: IDVAs offer a range of support including offering practical steps to protect their clients and their children, as well as longer term support. They can make DASH risk assessments, refer to MARAC and other agencies, support clients navigating the legal system and help clients to access emergency accommodation.

What else: Women who engage in this service also have the opportunity to be referred into our wider holistic services where they can receive longer term support and access group programmes.

Partners: Developed in partnership with Leicestershire Police and the Office for the Police and Crime Commissioner.
